About the Role

Oversee the development and execution of highway and traffic engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of engineers in the design and implementation of highway and traffic infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and review project plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments to ensure project compliance and safety.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to address project-related issues.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all project activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Conduct traffic studies and analyses to inform project design and implementation.
  • Develop and implement traffic management plans for construction and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate highway and traffic engineering solutions.
  • Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and other technical documents.
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals and bids for new projects.
  • Conduct peer reviews of project deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in highway and traffic engineering.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to project teams as needed.
  • Ensure that all project documentation is accurately maintained and up-to-date.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for project-related risks.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure project goals are met.
  • Participate in the development of project schedules and work plans.
  • Conduct post-construction evaluations to assess project performance and outcomes.
  • Provide input on the development of project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Ensure that all project activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments for new projects.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase to address any issues that arise.
  • Conduct training and development sessions for project team members.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with sustainable and environmentally friendly engineering practices.

  • Experience with the integration of transportation and land use planning.
  • Familiarity with the principles of transportation equity and social justice.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the relevant state.
  • Proven experience in highway and traffic engineering, with a focus on design and implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with traffic simulation software and tools.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools.
