About the Role

Shape the future of digital identity in the public sector by building trusted mobile applications that empower individuals through secure, privacy-preserving technology. As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, Mobile, you will play a central role in delivering production-grade mobile experiences for government services, combining deep technical expertise with direct collaboration across engineering, design, and public-sector teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain high-quality mobile applications for iOS and Android using modern frameworks such as Swift, Kotlin, Flutter, or React Native
  • Ensure all mobile solutions meet strict requirements for security, privacy, accessibility, and reliability in government environments
  • Integrate mobile clients with backend APIs and services, working closely with platform engineers to deliver seamless functionality
  • Translate complex policy and customer needs into practical, mobile-first technical implementations
  • Partner with UX designers to create intuitive, inclusive experiences tailored to diverse public audiences
  • Support end-to-end deployment, testing, and operational readiness in production settings
  • Advance adoption of global digital identity standards by aligning implementations with protocols like OAuth, OpenID Connect, and mDL
  • Advise government partners on best practices for mobile app security, deployment, and ongoing operations

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience shipping production mobile applications for iOS and/or Android
  • Proficiency in at least one mobile stack: Swift, Kotlin, Flutter, or React Native
  • Proven experience building and integrating APIs and backend services
  • Strong grasp of mobile security principles, including encryption, secure storage, and authentication flows
  • Hands-on experience with low-level communication protocols such as Bluetooth or NFC
  • Commitment to accessibility and inclusive design in mobile interfaces
  • Excellent communication skills with a track record of engaging directly with customers or stakeholders
  • Based in the US and comfortable working with state-level government partners

Nice to Have

  • Experience delivering software in regulated environments, especially the public sector
  • Familiarity with identity frameworks like OAuth, OpenID Connect, or mobile driver’s license (mDL) standards
  • Background in CI/CD, automated testing, and mobile deployment pipelines
