You'll define and drive the strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment between robust security practices and seamless developer experience across Canva’s engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly manage and grow two teams of software engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Define and evolve the long-term vision and execution plan for security platform capabilities, balancing safety, scalability, and developer velocity
- Guide engineering practices including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to maintain high team performance
- Collaborate with engineering, SRE/DevOps, and compliance partners to integrate security deeply into development workflows
- Promote internal adoption of security platforms by demonstrating value and usability to engineering teams across the organization
- Provide consistent, actionable feedback to support engineers’ technical and career development
What You Bring
- Proven experience leading high-performing software engineering teams in mission-driven environments
- Solid foundation in software architecture and design, with the ability to engage deeply in technical discussions and system planning
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based services and programming languages such as Golang, Java, or Rust
- Track record of working cross-functionally to embed security into developer tooling and processes
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes
- Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines and integration workflows
- Knowledge of security domains such as encryption, vulnerability management, or application isolation is highly valued
- Understanding of the broader security product landscape and the ability to assess tools against internal needs
