AECOM is hiring a Senior Engineer - Structures, Data Centers

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural contributions within projects and ensure accurate integration of inputs from team members.
  • Execute detailed engineering tasks involving analysis, technical drawings, and documentation.
  • Advance design through development, review, oversight, coordination, and comprehensive documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and independently carry out all required design activities.
  • Share specialized knowledge across the organization through technical discussions and presentations.
  • Maintain high standards in the quality of design deliverables.
  • Perform direct design work using engineering judgment and software tools.
  • Act as lead engineer on moderate-scale projects, offering focused technical expertise in structural systems.
  • Supervise and guide teams of junior and mid-level structural engineers with daily oversight and strategic direction.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between structural teams and other disciplines to prevent design conflicts.
  • Assist teams involved in construction phase activities and field support.
  • Foster collaborative environments that prioritize collective success over individual contributions.
  • Uphold rigorous performance and quality expectations for self and team.
  • Coach less experienced engineers and designers to strengthen their technical abilities and understanding of processes.
  • Start building professional relationships with clients through consistent project engagement.
  • Contribute to technical content in major proposals and support business growth through engineering insight.
  • Provide technical leadership on project components, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, timeline, and quality benchmarks.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with structural analysis and modeling software including Revit, Tekla, Etabs, SAP2000, Robot, and Idea Statica.
  • Understand how to manage a structural team within a multidisciplinary setting using BIM workflows, primarily in Autodesk Revit.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding schedules, meetings, and project challenges to manage expectations.
  • Identify risks to timelines or priorities and develop contingency plans proactively.
  • Apply broad engineering knowledge across diverse structural assignments and related technical domains.
  • Support digital innovation initiatives and adapt to evolving engineering practices.
  • Follow or establish design methodologies that promote efficient, high-value engineering outcomes.
  • Own responsibility for structural calculations, design decisions, and associated drawings.
