About the Role
The Senior Employment Counsel will serve as a key legal advisor on employment matters, offering practical guidance on compliance, investigations, and policy development while working closely with HR and leadership to maintain a fair and legally sound work environment.
Responsibilities
- Advise on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Support investigations into employee complaints and workplace issues
- Draft, review, and update employee handbooks and company policies
- Collaborate with HR on disciplinary actions and terminations
- Provide legal guidance during organizational changes and restructuring
- Assist in managing compliance with wage and hour laws
- Review and negotiate separation agreements and related documents
- Monitor evolving labor and employment regulations
- Support litigation risk assessment and mitigation strategies
- Partner with internal teams on compliance training initiatives
- Ensure adherence to anti-discrimination and accommodation laws
- Evaluate independent contractor classifications
- Advise on leave management and disability accommodation processes
- Support compliance with workplace safety requirements
- Participate in cross-functional projects involving workforce policies
Nice to Have
- Experience in the healthcare or technology industry
- Background supporting startup or high-growth companies
- Additional state bar admissions
- Prior experience with multi-jurisdictional compliance
- Familiarity with EEOC and DOL guidelines
