Senior Embedded Software Engineer
We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead embedded software development for advanced Mobile Ad-hoc Networking (MANET) radio systems. In this role, you will design and implement core software components that power resilient, secure wireless communications used in critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize MAC layer protocols and routing algorithms for mobile ad-hoc networks.
- Design and maintain network management tools and web-based interfaces.
- Implement and harden cryptographic protocols, including CNSA suite algorithms and compliance with NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria standards.
- Build audio streaming and push-to-talk voice applications for real-time communication.
- Create and maintain device drivers and board support packages for ARM and RISC-V platforms.
- Customize embedded Linux systems, including kernel modifications, system scripting, and interrupt handling.
- Develop test frameworks to validate system reliability, performance, and security under operational conditions.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, plus at least five years of embedded systems experience—or three years with an advanced STEM degree.
- Strong proficiency in C programming and Linux kernel development.
- Direct experience with socket programming, IPsec, and Internet protocol stacks.
- Familiarity with AMD UltraScale+, MPSoC, or Microchip Polarfire SoC platforms is preferred.
- Understanding of data link and network layers in communication systems.
- Hands-on experience with BSP development and Linux interrupt service routines.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite in West Los Angeles, specifically Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Occasional field testing may involve exposure to outdoor conditions and physical tasks such as lifting equipment up to 20 pounds, bending, kneeling, or reaching.
Employment Conditions
Candidates must be U.S. citizens due to government contract requirements. Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screening. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion, and we provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities.
