Kirby Group Engineering is hiring a Senior Electrical Quantity Surveyor | Dublin

Responsibilities

  • Building and managing budgets, reports, BOQs and profit plans with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Leading interim commercial meetings with clients and internal teams — and clearly reporting commercial positions to the Project Manager.
  • Managing subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts, ensuring payments are processed correctly and retentions are handled per contract.
  • Issuing interim and final accounts, including accurate remeasures, site changes, dayworks and any contract claims worth pursuing.
  • Flagging commercial risks early and escalating them appropriately to Senior Management.
  • Working closely with the Planning Engineer to align scheduling with real commercial implications, not assumptions.
  • Costing and agreeing daily work changes, including subcontractor remeasurement, dayworks and site variations.
  • Keeping detailed, reliable commercial records that stand up under scrutiny.
  • Prioritising your workload without hand‑holding — speed and accuracy both matter here.
  • Negotiating with clients or their representatives when required.
  • Setting a standard of professionalism, drive and work ethic for others to follow.
  • Upholding strong information security practices in line with the company’s ISMS.

Requirements

  • Experienced Electrical QS
  • Ability to own the commercial life of a project from tender to final account
  • Proven ability to protect margin, manage change, and maintain accurate and justifiable commercial records
  • Experience embedded in a project team, shaping decisions and controlling cost
  • Strong ownership mindset with ability to manage time without micromanagement
  • Ability to communicate the truth of the numbers clearly, even when unfavorable
  • High accuracy in budgeting, reporting, BOQs, and profit planning
  • Experience leading commercial meetings and reporting positions to Project Managers
  • Proven track record managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and final accounts
  • Experience issuing interim and final accounts including remeasures, dayworks, and contract claims
  • Ability to identify and escalate commercial risks appropriately
  • Collaboration experience with Planning Engineers on schedule-commercial alignment
  • Experience costing and agreeing daily work changes, including variations and remeasurement
  • Maintaining detailed and reliable commercial records
  • Ability to prioritize workload independently
  • Negotiation skills with clients or their representatives
  • Demonstrated professionalism, drive, and work ethic
  • Adherence to information security practices per company ISMS
