AECOM is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer, Data Centers - Remote (U.S.)

Shape the future of critical infrastructure as a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in hyper-scale data centers. In this remote role, you'll lead the design and execution of medium and low-voltage power systems, backup power solutions, and emergency electrical infrastructure for some of the most demanding facilities in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end electrical system design, from concept through implementation, ensuring alignment with NEC, IEC, and other applicable standards
  • Create detailed schematics, material lists, and installation documentation to support construction and commissioning
  • Perform system analysis for load balancing, capacity planning, and energy efficiency improvements
  • Act as Engineer of Record, reviewing and approving designs, and providing technical oversight on complex projects
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making across multidisciplinary teams
  • Develop electrical safety protocols and training materials for field personnel
  • Support project budgeting and scheduling with accurate engineering estimates
  • Engage directly with clients to understand requirements, present solutions, and build trusted technical relationships
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovations that enhance system reliability and performance

What You Bring

  • Proven expertise in electrical engineering with a focus on high-density, mission-critical environments
  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining power distribution systems in large-scale data centers
  • Strong understanding of compliance requirements, including National Electric Code and international standards
  • Ability to lead technical aspects of projects and guide cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience in client-facing roles, including technical sales support and stakeholder communication

Work Environment

This position operates remotely with flexibility in scheduling, based out of any U.S. location where the organization has a presence. Occasional travel is required for client meetings, project milestones, or on-site collaboration, scheduled in advance. You’ll work within a global network of engineers, contributing to high-visibility projects while growing your leadership capabilities.
