Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to donor security regulations and internal security protocols to support efficient operations of the global security program.
- Deliver regular security updates and emergency briefings to executive leadership.
- Lead organizational responses to critical incidents, including managing the Crisis Management Team and handling high-level security threats.
- Guide senior leaders and staff on interpreting security policies and developing plans to meet donor and client requirements.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve security management policies and procedures in collaboration with HR, communications, technology, operations, finance, and legal teams.
- Maintain external networks to gather intelligence and benchmark security practices against peer organizations.
- Serve as a thought leader in safety and security, both within the organization and externally.
- Oversee strategic and operational functions of the Global Security Department to ensure compliance, performance, and efficiency.
- Provide leadership and performance management, including setting direction, giving feedback, and disciplinary actions.
- Implement advanced systems and automated processes, leveraging innovative technologies.
- Promote continuous learning and capacity building within the global security team, serving as a role model.
- Conduct staff training programs including emergency drills, tabletop exercises, Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT), first aid, and Active Shooter preparedness.
- Ensure all global staff understand incident management and reporting procedures.
- Manage complex, high-risk incidents, including deployments to high-risk countries.
- Communicate the role of global security in protecting assets and reducing risk, ensuring adherence to policies.
- Support proposal development with security narratives and budget inputs, and attend planning meetings.
- Supervise regional security managers and country-based contacts responsible for local security and emergency management.
- Coordinate with enterprise services and third-party providers such as medevac, online training, and risk management.
- Maintain records and digital systems for security policies, After Action Reviews, Country Security Plans, and incident reports.
- Collect feedback from internal and external stakeholders to improve security performance.
- Travel to operational regions, analyze security data, and assess trends to evaluate effectiveness and anticipate needs.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and contribute to quarterly Enterprise Risk Management reporting.
- Provide comprehensive safety and security support for global facilities, ensuring integration of safety measures in landlord services, security personnel, lighting, and infrastructure.
- Ensure clear command, control, and communication during emergencies.
- Engage in external safety and security forums, listservs, and communities of practice to represent the organization and improve processes.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or international equivalent in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Security Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 8 years in leadership and line management roles in security or corporate security.
- Demonstrated experience leading departments or projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to apply judgment within defined policies when selecting methods and techniques to solve problems.
- In-depth understanding of global security concepts, practices, and policies.
- Proven track record in meeting budget, schedule, and performance goals.
- Exceptional leadership capabilities.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent English-language communication, analytical, and writing skills.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
- Experience working in challenging environments and countries for international organizations.
- Fluency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese is highly desirable.

Team
Reports to the Chief Compliance Officer. Supervises regional security managers and country-based contacts/vendors. Oversees a network including regional security personnel, project-embedded professionals, country focal points, and external security vendors.
