Common App is hiring a Senior Data Governance Analyst - U.S. Based Remote Opportunity

About the Role

This position leads efforts to establish and maintain strong data governance frameworks, working closely with stakeholders across departments to define data standards, improve data quality, and promote responsible data use across systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of data governance policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with data owners and stewards to define data standards and ensure compliance
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues across platforms and databases
  • Support the development and maintenance of a centralized data catalog
  • Facilitate data governance committee meetings and track action items
  • Evaluate data management practices and recommend improvements
  • Ensure alignment between data policies and regulatory requirements
  • Work with IT and analytics teams to integrate governance into data workflows
  • Document data lineage and metadata for critical data assets
  • Promote a culture of data accountability and stewardship across the organization
  • Monitor adherence to data governance standards through audits and reporting
  • Assist in classifying sensitive data and enforcing protection protocols
  • Translate business needs into technical data governance requirements
  • Develop training materials and guidance for data governance best practices
  • Track key performance indicators related to data quality and policy compliance
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for data governance inquiries
  • Support data privacy initiatives and compliance frameworks
  • Liaise with legal and compliance teams on data-related risks
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and emerging trends in data governance
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data management tools and platforms

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Certification in data management or governance (e.g., CDMP, CDP)
  • Experience in education or nonprofit sectors
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
  • Hands-on experience with data quality assessment tools
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake or AWS
  • Prior experience in a highly regulated data environment
