Lead the compliance function for a forward-thinking motor insurance provider operating across the UK and Gibraltar. In this role, you will ensure the organisation consistently meets its regulatory obligations, with particular emphasis on consumer duty, retail customer protection, and evolving compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements affecting the insurance industry, especially within Gibraltar and the UK jurisdictions
- Serve as the primary liaison with financial regulators, managing inquiries, audits, and formal reporting processes
- Design, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks that align with legal standards and organisational goals
- Develop and enforce policies that uphold fairness, transparency, and accountability in all customer-facing operations
- Create and manage a Compliance Monitoring Plan to proactively identify and resolve potential risks
- Deliver regular compliance reports to executive leadership and oversight bodies, highlighting key risks and mitigation efforts
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments focused on consumer impact and regulatory exposure
- Lead training initiatives to build compliance awareness across teams, ensuring staff understand their responsibilities
- Advise senior leaders and the board on regulatory developments, offering strategic guidance to support informed decision-making
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to strengthen compliance practices and adapt to regulatory shifts
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of seven years in compliance within the insurance sector, preferably in motor insurance
- Proven expertise in the regulatory landscape of Gibraltar, including direct experience working with the Financial Services Commission
- Strong grasp of UK consumer duty regulations and their application to retail insurance products
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities, with a track record of influencing at senior levels
Work Environment
This role follows a hybrid model, requiring at least one day per week in the Gibraltar office, with flexibility to work remotely the remainder of the week.
