Enterprise Electrical is hiring a Senior CAD / BIM Designer

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage precise 3D BIM models for electrical infrastructure such as power systems, lighting, grounding, cable trays, conduit pathways, and equipment placement.
  • Generate coordinated shop, installation, and fabrication drawings for construction use.
  • Build LOD 300–400 models that support construction and prefabrication workflows.
  • Design electrical layouts following project specifications and compliance with the National Electrical Code.
  • Take part in BIM coordination meetings with internal teams and external trade partners.
  • Run clash detection processes using Navisworks or equivalent tools.
  • Address conflicts between electrical systems and other disciplines including mechanical, plumbing, and structural.
  • Synchronize model updates with project managers, superintendents, and field crews.
  • Support model-driven field layout planning and installation preparation.
  • Revise and update models to reflect as-built conditions and design changes from the field.
  • Uphold BIM modeling standards, templates, and best practices across projects.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to internal drafting guidelines and project-specific BIM execution plans.
  • Track and manage drawing versions and revisions accurately.
  • Mentor and train junior CAD/BIM designers and drafters on modeling techniques and standards.
  • Conduct quality reviews of drawings and models for correctness, completeness, and buildability.
  • Support leadership in refining BIM workflows and enhancing design processes.

  • Work involves a mix of office duties and occasional visits to project sites.
  • Coordination with field teams and project stakeholders is required.
  • Ability to work beyond standard hours when necessary to meet project timelines.
  • Primarily based in an office with long durations spent at a computer workstation.
  • Occasional travel to active construction sites for coordination, verification, and support.
  • Regular interaction with engineering, project management, VDC/BIM, and field operations teams.
  • Exposure to construction site conditions during visits, including noise, dust, uneven ground, and variable weather.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods while using CAD and BIM software.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around active construction areas when needed.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 25 pounds, such as drawings or equipment.
  • Visual acuity to interpret detailed models, drawings, and technical documents on screens.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with team members, subcontractors, and field staff in varied settings.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including computers, monitors, keyboards, and printers over extended periods.
  • Use of desktop or laptop workstations dedicated to CAD/BIM modeling, coordination, and documentation.
  • Proficiency with design software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Experience with project and document management platforms like Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Bluebeam, or Procore.
  • Access to office equipment including printers, scanners, plotters, copiers, and communication devices.
  • Use of large-format or multi-screen displays for reviewing complex models and drawings.
  • Utilization of digital collaboration tools including Microsoft Teams, email, and cloud file-sharing systems.
  • Use of mobile devices or tablets to access drawings and models during meetings or site visits.
  • Carry basic field verification tools during site visits, such as measuring devices, tablets, and cameras to document site conditions.
