Responsibilities
- Manages patient appointment scheduling for various services including exams, procedures, and physician visits across hospital and outpatient settings.
- Serves as a liaison between medical staff, referring offices, and provider practices to resolve scheduling concerns.
- Gathers clinical data, confirms insurance coverage, and validates patient demographic details to support proper test scheduling.
- Books appointments for patients needing physician consultations or diagnostic testing.
- Provides guidance to patients, families, and provider offices on departmental policies, insurance requirements, referrals, and testing guidelines.
- Reviews current scheduling protocols and suggests enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Operates scheduling and patient management software to streamline access within the healthcare network.
- Acts as a point of contact for staff and providers needing scheduling support or information.
- Focuses on minimizing errors and rework by maintaining high attention to detail and process accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates all patient scheduling activities including appointments, procedures, and exams for multiple hospital, physician practice, outpatient departments, modalities, and facilities.
- Facilitates communication between staff, referral sources and physician offices regarding concerns/issues related to scheduling.
- Collects clinical information, obtains insurance, and verifies patient demographics to ensure appropriate scheduling of screening and diagnostic tests.
- Schedules patients for physician appointments and diagnostic test procedures.
- Educates patients, families and physician offices regarding department protocols, procedures, insurance, referrals and testing criteria.
- Monitors practice protocols and department procedures and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Utilizes scheduling software and other patient-specific software applications to facilitate patient access into the network.
- Serves as a resource for staff, physicians, and referring offices.
- Strives to reduce errors, minimize rework and defects through conscientious defects and attention to detail.
