Monzo is hiring a Risk Assurance Manager

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end risk assurance initiatives, including effectiveness evaluations to verify compliance with the enterprise risk framework across EU operations.
  • Perform focused thematic assessments in key risk domains such as conduct, compliance, financial crime, IT, prudential, and strategic risk to evaluate control design and operational performance.
  • Detect weaknesses in risk controls and governance structures, propose actionable enhancements, and oversee remediation to resolution.
  • Collaborate with business and risk teams to gain insight into products and evolving risk exposures, supporting a transparent and cooperative risk environment.
  • Inform the annual risk assurance planning process using intelligence from ongoing regulatory analysis, emerging trends, and industry developments.
  • Support the evolution of the second-line risk assurance framework, methodology, and governing documents to maintain relevance and competitiveness.
  • Coordinate with first-line control testing functions, group-level risk teams, and internal audit to align efforts while preserving independent scrutiny.
  • Support risk oversight bodies by delivering reports on key risk trends, findings, and follow-up actions.
  • Champion organizational awareness of risk and compliance through training and cultural initiatives.

Compensation

Second-Line of Defence (2LOD) within Monzo Bank Europe (MBEU), working in collaboration with First-Line of Defence (1LOD), Group 2LOD, and Internal Audit

  • Position designated as a Controlled Function (CF-2) under the Central Bank Reform Act, 2010.
  • Appointment requires compliance with the Fitness and Probity Standards 2018 set by the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Subject to Conduct Standards as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Individual Accountability Framework.
  • Hybrid working model requiring 2-3 days per week in the Dublin office.
  • Flexible working hours available.
