About the Role
Modern Family Law offers a structured Residency Program for 3Ls and recent law graduates preparing to sit for the July 2026 or February 2027 Bar exam. Based in Washington, this program is designed to build foundational skills in family law, client representation, and courtroom practice. Residents receive guided training with the goal of transitioning into full Associate Attorney positions upon Bar admission.
What You’ll Do
- Manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced legal environment with strong attention to detail

- Engage actively in learning, seek feedback, and apply it to improve performance
- Complete assigned training focused on client intake, conversion, and case handling
- Prepare to independently manage client matters from initiation through resolution after residency
Qualifications
- Currently a 3L or recent law graduate
- Registered to take the July 2026 or February 2027 Bar exam
- Planned residence in Washington during and after the Bar process
- Ability to fulfill responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations
- Willingness to work in a hybrid setting, attending in person when required by court schedules or client needs
Work Environment & Benefits
The firm operates on a remote-first model, with physical office spaces available in Seattle, Bellevue, and Everett for when in-person presence is necessary. As an Associate Attorney, you’ll benefit from a low monthly billable hour requirement of 100 hours, allowing meaningful client engagement without excessive pressure.
You’ll gain early responsibility in litigation, including first-chair courtroom opportunities, while managing cases involving divorce, child custody, and financial support. Direct client interaction and case ownership are central to the role.

Compensation & Benefits
Resident compensation starts at $83,200, with Associate Attorneys earning up to $153,700, depending on experience, location, and performance. Pay is adjusted based on relevant job factors.

Work Mode
This is a hybrid position with a remote-first approach. You must be available for in-person appearances as required by courts or clients in Washington.
