About the Role

A Research Fellow is sought to contribute to cutting-edge work in peptide chemistry and microbiology at a top-tier research university. Under the guidance of a senior principal investigator, the role centers on the design, synthesis, and functional analysis of antimicrobial peptides and bacterial binding agents. The position supports interdisciplinary initiatives integrating surface science, biosensing, and antimicrobial evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments in peptide synthesis, modification, and characterization using solid-phase techniques
  • Perform microbiological assays to assess antimicrobial activity and selectivity profiles
  • Support electrochemical and surface assembly studies relevant to biosensing applications
  • Compile data for grant submissions, progress reports, and scientific publications
  • Train and mentor junior researchers in laboratory methods and safety protocols
  • Engage in remote coordination with the principal investigator and travel to Israel for specialized training

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Peptide Chemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related field
  • Proven expertise in antimicrobial peptide design, synthesis, and functional testing
  • Strong background in laboratory techniques including microbiological culturing, assay development, and peptide characterization
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to collaborative research goals
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a track record of meeting research deadlines
  • Willingness to support team development through knowledge sharing and technical coaching
