Research Engineer – Robot Learning
Role Overview
Join a research team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of physical AI through robotics and autonomous systems. This role focuses on developing and deploying advanced learning frameworks that bridge simulation and real-world performance. You'll work at the intersection of data infrastructure, robotic systems, and machine learning to build scalable solutions for autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain robotic hardware setups and mechatronic systems tailored to specific research needs
- Develop large-scale simulation environments for training robotic policies using reinforcement learning
- Prepare and process human-generated data for use in robotic learning pipelines
- Partner with research scientists and interns to contribute to high-impact publications aimed at top-tier conferences
- Collaborate with engineering teams on ADAS, data infrastructure, and simulation tools to transition end-to-end models into production-ready systems
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in one or more of: world-action foundation models, video or Gaussian generation, diffusion policies, or multi-modal robot learning
- Direct experience with VLA post-training or reinforcement learning techniques
- Background in physics-aware 3D reconstruction or deformable object simulation
- Demonstrated interest in scalable autonomy and real-world robotic deployment
- Strong technical foundation in Python, PyTorch, computer vision, robotics, and distributed training of machine learning models
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in self-driving or related autonomy domains
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in machine learning, computer vision, or a related field with robotics applications
- Track record of developing and releasing software tools or frameworks for end users

Work Mode
This role is primarily onsite across locations including Sunnyvale, San Diego, Washington D.C., Ft. Walton Beach, Ann Arbor, London, Stuttgart, Munich, Stockholm, Bangalore, Seoul, and Tokyo. Employees are expected to work from the office five days per week, with limited flexibility for remote work due to family or personal needs.

Compensation
Annual salary ranges from $126,000 to $423,000 USD, depending on experience. Compensation package includes base salary, equity in the form of stock options or restricted stock units, and full benefits.
