Role Overview
This position leads the design and maintenance of operational reporting systems that deliver timely insights into clinical performance, quality outcomes, and care utilization. The analyst ensures data is transformed into standardized, accessible formats that empower clinical and operational teams to monitor performance and drive improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reports for clinical and operational leadership
- Define and implement KPIs that track quality, utilization, productivity, and program impact
- Collaborate with stakeholders to convert business needs into scalable reporting frameworks
- Ensure reporting tools are accurate, repeatable, and integrated with decision-making workflows
- Design intuitive visualizations that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities in care delivery
- Refine reporting solutions based on user feedback and changing business priorities
- Analyze claims, clinical, and encounter data to assess adherence to standards and identify gaps
- Detect patterns in care variation, provider performance, and population health trends
- Support monitoring of clinical programs and internal operations through data analysis
- Write and maintain complex SQL queries and analytical datasets from large healthcare databases
- Validate data accuracy and ensure proper documentation across all reporting outputs
- Conduct in-depth analyses to explain performance shifts and underlying causes
- Partner with clinical, quality, and compliance teams to align metrics with strategic goals
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership teams
- Support audits and performance reviews with data-backed insights
- Act as a technical resource for reporting and performance measurement
- Guide junior analysts in analytical methods and reporting standards
- Help shape organization-wide practices for data governance and metric consistency
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least five years of experience in healthcare analytics or clinical data analysis. Proficiency in SQL and Excel is required, along with hands-on experience using BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. Candidates should have a background working with claims, clinical, or encounter data within managed care or Medicare Advantage settings. A bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Statistics, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field is required. Experience developing operational metrics for clinical or quality teams and supporting performance improvement initiatives is essential.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SAS, R, or Python for data analysis
- Advanced degree in a relevant field
- Professional certification such as Lean Six Sigma, CPHQ, or CPHM
