About the Role
The engineer will be responsible for creating detailed site plans and grading designs, supporting land development workflows from concept through to final deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive site layout plans for residential and commercial developments
- Produce accurate grading and drainage designs to manage stormwater runoff
- Ensure designs comply with municipal codes and engineering standards
- Prepare erosion and sediment control plans
- Collaborate with surveyors and project managers to integrate field data
- Generate utility layout plans including water, sewer, and storm systems
- Conduct calculations for cut and fill volumes
- Review planning applications for technical feasibility
- Support permitting processes with engineering documentation
- Use CAD software to draft and revise site plans
- Coordinate with local authorities during plan review stages
- Perform site design for access drives, parking areas, and roadways
- Integrate environmental constraints into design solutions
- Maintain consistent design standards across multiple projects
- Respond to reviewer comments and revise plans accordingly
- Manage timelines for design deliverables
- Apply knowledge of zoning regulations to site layouts
- Design sustainable stormwater management features
- Assist in feasibility studies for new development sites
- Produce construction sequencing plans when required
Nice to Have
- PE license with reciprocity in multiple states
- Experience with civil design software beyond AutoCAD
- Background in large-scale master-planned communities
- Prior work with remote engineering teams
- Familiarity with GIS applications in site planning
- Experience in high-density urban developments
- Knowledge of green infrastructure design
- Project management experience in engineering firms
- Exposure to LEED or similar sustainability frameworks
- History of mentoring junior engineers
