Role Overview
As the Reliability & Engineering Manager, you will lead asset performance and maintenance strategy at a manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. Your focus will be on improving equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safe, compliant operations through proactive engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct site-wide reliability programs, including monitoring equipment health, managing asset lifecycles, and improving mechanical performance.
- Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned outages.
- Apply structured problem-solving methods such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to resolve chronic equipment issues.
- Plan and oversee plant shutdowns, including coordination with external maintenance teams and execution of critical work scopes.
- Classify equipment by operational criticality and establish spare parts strategies to support production continuity.
- Write and update maintenance and mechanical procedures in alignment with precision standards and food safety regulations.
- Own the spare parts inventory program, including budget management, storeroom organization, and inventory optimization.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on capital projects and long-term reliability planning.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet food safety requirements, including HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, and pest control protocols.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field is required, or equivalent experience. You must bring at least 10 years of experience in manufacturing or maintenance, with a strong background in reliability engineering principles. Demonstrated expertise in FMEA, RCFA, preventive and predictive maintenance, and asset lifecycle management is essential. Leadership in maintenance planning, project execution, or team supervision is expected.
You should be skilled in data analysis, capable of interpreting performance metrics to guide decisions, and able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn internal systems are required. This role requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor.
Preferred Experience
- Background in food manufacturing within a regulated environment.
- Experience with high-speed or continuous process equipment.
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, or formal training in continuous improvement methodologies.
