About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical installations and troubleshooting in underground environments, ensuring all work meets regulatory requirements and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain underground power distribution systems
- Interpret electrical schematics and blueprints accurately
- Perform fault detection and repair on high-voltage circuits
- Conduct routine inspections of underground electrical infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with provincial electrical codes and safety regulations
- Use specialized tools and diagnostic equipment for cable splicing
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams on project execution
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs
- Respond to emergency outages and perform urgent repairs
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance operations
- Supervise apprentices when assigned to training roles
- Adhere to site-specific safety protocols and hazard assessments
- Test insulation resistance and circuit continuity
- Install transformers, switchgear, and related components
- Work in confined spaces with proper safety precautions
- Manage cable routing and trenching coordination
- Support commissioning of new underground electrical systems
- Participate in pre-job safety meetings and planning sessions
- Ensure proper grounding and bonding of electrical systems
- Transport tools and equipment to remote job sites
- Comply with environmental protection standards during work
- Report equipment defects or safety concerns promptly
- Assist in project closeout documentation
- Follow company quality assurance procedures
- Maintain certification and ongoing training records

Work Environment
- Field-based role with frequent travel to underground sites
- Work may occur in tunnels, vaults, and subsurface enclosures

- Shift work including evenings and weekends may be required
- Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory
Tools and Equipment
- Must provide basic hand tools and testing devices
- Training provided on specialized underground equipment
- Company vehicles available for site transportation
- Access to cable locators and fault detection systems
