Sideworx Connect is hiring a Red Seal Pipefitters for Mining/Mine Construction FIFO in Nunavut

About the Role

This role involves installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems in mining and construction environments under demanding Arctic conditions, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install and assemble high-pressure piping systems according to engineering specifications
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for piping layouts
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks on carbon steel and alloy piping
  • Conduct pressure testing and leak detection on completed systems
  • Maintain accurate records of installations and repairs
  • Follow strict safety protocols in extreme weather conditions
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to resolve design issues
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian piping codes and standards
  • Inspect piping systems for wear, corrosion, or damage
  • Perform preventative maintenance on pipelines and fittings
  • Support commissioning of new piping infrastructure
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces as required
  • Use precision measuring tools for alignment and fit-up
  • Troubleshoot flow and pressure issues in operational systems
  • Adapt installations to site-specific environmental challenges
  • Handle hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations
  • Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Operate hoisting and rigging equipment safely
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
  • Respond to emergency repairs during operational outages
  • Follow environmental protection procedures on site
  • Coordinate with other trades to avoid workflow conflicts
  • Ensure proper support and anchoring of pipe runs
  • Document modifications and as-built changes
  • Work within tight project timelines and remote logistics constraints

Compensation

Competitive wage based on experience with additional allowances for remote work

Work Arrangement

Fly-in fly-out (FIFO) schedule with rotational shifts

Team

Work as part of a skilled trades team on large-scale mining and construction sites

Work Environment

  • Projects are located in remote regions of Nunavut with extreme cold temperatures
  • Work is conducted outdoors and in temporary facilities
  • Rotational shifts may include nights and weekends
  • Access is by air only; housing and meals provided on site

Travel Requirements

  • Fly-in fly-out schedule from designated Canadian departure points
  • Rotations typically follow a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off pattern
  • Employees must be available for full project duration
  • Travel and accommodation arranged by employer
