Responsibilities
- Support the Quality Assurance Manager in designing, planning, and managing quality assurance and control systems.
- Evaluate testing and inspection methods to verify their effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and correct flawed quality control processes using measurement science and statistical analysis; conduct capability assessments for internal and supplier production processes.
- Perform internal audits of quality systems to detect gaps and areas for improvement.
- Examine engineering drawings and technical specifications to confirm that critical features are measurable and properly toleranced; define standardized measurement approaches for facilities and suppliers.
- Act as a quality representative in new project teams; assist in reviewing customer requirements, planning project-specific quality strategies, and coordinating with suppliers.
- Create Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for current and new products, and coordinate their rollout with plant QA teams; include development of new testing methods, gauges, and fixtures.
- Assess finished goods, incoming materials, and raw components against established specifications.
- Perform standard laboratory tasks using physical, mechanical, and electrical testing techniques and inspection tools.
- Interpret engineering data, customer requirements, and technical drawings for use by suppliers or manufacturing sites.
- Carry out on-site inspections at supplier locations and conduct quality system audits; collaborate with key suppliers to implement necessary improvements.
- Investigate customer complaints and product failures; analyze root causes using engineering and lab findings; support determination of failure origins.
- Collaborate with engineers and plant staff to reduce nonconforming products by applying Root Cause Analysis and CAPA methodologies; promote better process controls, measurement techniques, and specification clarity; verify effectiveness through follow-up.
- Assist suppliers struggling with quality compliance due to part defects; apply Root Cause Analysis and CAPA processes; monitor progress until improvements are confirmed.
- Design and execute material testing protocols to meet industry and customer standards; provide analytical support during product development.
- Manage Supplier Risk Assessment and Inspection Level classification programs.
- Support the Customer Feedback database by tracking issues and confirming resolution with Engineering, plants, suppliers, Marketing, and Sales.
- Apply Lean principles and methods to advance continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in technical meetings, industry conferences, and specialized training relevant to quality assurance.
- Select and utilize appropriate software tools based on task requirements.
- Train team members in inspection, testing, and quality-related procedures.
