As a Python Engineer Team Lead, you will guide a team of backend developers, ensuring consistent delivery of platform initiatives while advancing the evolution of scalable, high-performance systems. You'll take end-to-end responsibility for planning, execution, and technical outcomes, working closely with engineering leadership to align team efforts with long-term product goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and implementation of platform roadmap items, ensuring timely and reliable delivery
- Supervise backend engineers, manage daily workflows, and foster a culture of accountability and growth
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering on quarterly planning and strategic technical direction
- Enhance delivery predictability by identifying risks early and implementing mitigation strategies
- Design and implement robust, scalable backend services to support company-wide functionality
- Optimize system performance, data processing efficiency, and service reliability
- Lead efforts to modernize outdated systems, improve architecture, and reduce technical debt
- Coordinate with product, architecture, and peer teams to align priorities and technical approaches
- Ensure comprehensive documentation and promote knowledge exchange within the team
Qualifications
- Minimum of six years of experience in backend development, with a focus on distributed systems
- At least two years in a leadership role guiding technical teams or projects
- Proven track record in planning, estimating, and delivering complex software initiatives
- Deep understanding of scalability, performance tuning, and system design principles
- Ability to make sound technical decisions that impact business outcomes
- Comfort operating under tight timelines and balancing competing priorities
- Functional proficiency in English (B1 or higher) for effective collaboration
