MyFlorida (Department of Management Services) is hiring a Public Health Nutrition Consultant / Government Analyst II

This position supports the Bureau of Field Operations in ensuring health care facilities meet state and federal standards. The consultant plays a key role in managing survey processes, conducting quality assurance reviews, and supporting compliance across field offices. Responsibilities include analyzing regulatory data, preparing reports, and assisting with corrective actions when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Chief of Field Operations in daily bureau functions and long-term planning
  • Conduct statewide presentations and attend meetings with regulatory and health care organizations
  • Visit field offices to evaluate survey operations and provide guidance
  • Review survey activities for accuracy and compliance with federal and state mandates
  • Develop action plans to improve survey processes and address deficiencies
  • Compile and analyze data from federal health care surveys
  • Train staff on proper scheduling and execution of regulatory surveys
  • Liaise with agency departments, professional associations, and regulatory bodies
  • Respond during emergencies, including natural or man-made disasters, as required
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and emergency deployments

Qualifications

Candidates must have four years of professional experience in program analysis, administrative systems, or a related field, including three years as a nursing home surveyor. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Applicants must be able to travel throughout Florida, lift up to 25 pounds regularly, and work outside normal business hours when needed.

Successful candidates must pass a State and National criminal history check and comply with screening requirements under Florida Statutes. The role is subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing under the Drug-Free Workplace Act.

Preference will be given to those who have passed the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT).

Work Environment

This role allows remote work anywhere in Florida, with occasional travel to field offices or the agency headquarters in Tallahassee. The position is mission-critical, requiring availability during emergencies and disaster response operations.
