This role centers on the analysis, design, and rehabilitation of critical water control structures, including spillways, outlet works, and flood protection systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical initiatives in hydraulic modeling, dam safety evaluations, and flood hazard assessments using industry-standard tools.
  • Perform dam breach and inundation modeling to support consequence analysis and emergency planning.
  • Conduct field inspections and peer reviews of hydraulic structures, ensuring alignment with current engineering standards.
  • Manage project lifecycles from scoping to delivery, overseeing budgets, schedules, and quality assurance.
  • Support business development through client interaction, proposal writing, and technical marketing.
  • Mentor junior engineers, contribute to staff development, and help strengthen technical capabilities across teams.
  • Represent the firm at industry forums, publish technical findings, and present at conferences to enhance professional visibility.
  • Prepare engineering reports, specifications, and risk-informed studies for regulatory and client use.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in water resources, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the U.S.
  • Minimum of 7 years of consulting experience focused on water resources, with emphasis on dams and levees.
  • Proven experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling platforms such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and familiarity with tools like HEC-LifeSim, HEC-FIA, or DAMRAE.
  • Experience in flood frequency analysis, reservoir routing, and probabilistic risk assessment methods.
  • Fieldwork readiness with ability to travel for site visits, inspections, and client meetings.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Background

  • Advanced degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering.
  • Project management and business development experience.
  • Proficiency with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or 3-D modeling systems.
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with annual refreshers.
