The Project Engineer II plays a key role in advancing productivity across engineering programs, with a focus on value engineering (VE) and component engineering (CE). This position drives initiatives from early concept through to production handoff, ensuring technical and business objectives are met efficiently and sustainably.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a portfolio of productivity projects, tracking performance through defined metrics and continuous improvement
- Guide the development lifecycle from ideation to implementation, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility
- Support system resilience and obsolescence mitigation efforts to enhance product longevity and reliability
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and resolve technical roadblocks, enabling smooth project progression
- Contribute to refining VE/CE processes, integrating best practices and lessons learned
- Assess project risks, communicate impacts clearly, and escalate issues proactively when risks affect timelines or deliverables
- Apply expertise in environmental, mechanical, electronic, and safety standards to ensure product compliance
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders across development, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and regulatory teams to meet productivity targets
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
- Minimum of two years of experience in new product introduction (NPI), value or component engineering, or product lifecycle management
- Familiarity with hardware and embedded systems development
- Understanding of Agile methodologies, including PI and sprint planning, and experience using tools like Jira
- Knowledge of Agile performance metrics and their practical application
- Technical proficiency across mechanical, electronic, or software domains, with an emphasis on system integration
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as UL, CSA, and CE
- Ability to prepare and deliver status reports that clearly communicate project health and risk exposure
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile certification
- Leadership experience, including team coordination or people management
- Background in electronic and mechanical technology projects
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with proven ability to negotiate and collaborate in international settings
- Skilled in multitasking and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
