Program Enablement Director - Energy Transformation
Role Overview
This position leads the Program Enablement function within a national energy consulting practice, focusing on utility clients undergoing large-scale, technology-driven change. The role integrates program governance, project management discipline, and organizational change strategies to ensure successful delivery of transformation initiatives such as grid modernization, digital utility platforms, and enterprise system implementations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine the Program Enablement service line, aligning PMO frameworks, change methodologies, and delivery tools into a unified, scalable offering.
- Create standardized approaches, reusable assets, and maturity assessments tailored to utility technology programs.
- Collaborate with energy sector leaders and technical specialists to integrate enablement services into broader transformation solutions.
- Provide leadership and coaching to PMO and change management professionals across client engagements.
- Oversee or directly manage PMO functions for major utility programs, including governance, planning, risk tracking, financial oversight, and executive reporting.
- Design and implement change strategies that support adoption of new systems and operating models, covering stakeholder alignment, communication, training, and readiness assessment.
- Advise utility executives, program sponsors, and regulatory stakeholders on program structure and performance.
- Support business development through proposal leadership, solution design, and client presentations for PMO and change-focused opportunities.
- Strengthen client relationships and identify pathways to expand service scope over multi-year initiatives.
- Position Program Enablement as a competitive advantage in client pursuits and contribute to market-facing content and thought leadership.
Qualifications
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and currently reside in the contiguous United States. A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A minimum of ten years of professional experience in program management, PMO leadership, or organizational change is essential, with direct experience supporting utility clients on technology transformations such as AMI, GIS, CIS, ERP, ADMS, DERMS, OMS, or cloud modernization.
Proven ability to design and operate enterprise-level PMOs—including governance structures, integrated planning, performance dashboards, and executive communications—is required. Experience in management consulting or professional services, including client delivery and business development, is expected. The role demands comfort engaging at the executive level while maintaining strong credibility with delivery teams on the ground.

- Advanced degree in business, engineering, public policy, or related discipline
- Professional certifications such as PMP, PgMP, SAFe, Prosci, or CCMP
- Experience working within regulated utility environments and with oversight agencies
- Background in building or scaling consulting offerings
Work Environment
This role requires occasional travel and the ability to work onsite at either an office location or client facility. Candidates must be able to operate effectively in both collaborative team settings and high-pressure executive environments.
