Körber Global Technology Solutions is hiring a Product Engineer II

The Product Engineer II independently develops mechanical designs for parcel handling equipment and oversees projects from initial concept to production release. This role emphasizes balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability while working closely with cross-functional teams, supporting testing and validation, and ensuring adherence to industry and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical material handling systems including conveyors, bulk feeders, sorters, and fulfillment machinery without direct supervision
  • Manage tasks of moderate complexity within defined project scopes
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and legal requirements
  • Translate conceptual product requirements into detailed mechanical designs
  • Produce fabrication and assembly documentation using appropriate material handling technologies, considering performance, cost, and operational needs
  • Work with electrical and controls engineers to integrate automation subsystems
  • Engage with suppliers and manufacturing partners on material selection, design for manufacturability, cost targets, and procurement logistics
  • Develop and maintain complete technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, manuals, integration guides, and engineering change records
  • Apply proper revision control to engineering changes, including Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
  • Identify and resolve design issues using root-cause analysis techniques
  • Implement corrective actions and support prototyping, lab testing, and equipment validation
  • Use empirical test data to inform and refine design iterations
  • Lead or participate in peer design reviews to verify technical quality, cost efficiency, and performance goals
  • Promote continuous improvement in design processes, documentation practices, and component reuse strategies
  • Offer technical guidance and informal mentorship to less experienced engineers on design methodologies, tools, and standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering
  • At least four years of relevant engineering experience
  • Proven ability in mechanical product design
  • Direct experience designing material handling equipment or similar mechanical systems
  • Capability to apply engineering principles and assess alternative design approaches
  • Demonstrated success independently delivering moderate-complexity designs that balance cost, performance, and manufacturability
  • Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and mechanical system integration
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to design decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and support successful equipment deployment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Skill in independently diagnosing design issues and conducting root-cause investigations
  • Ability to propose practical engineering solutions and use test results to improve designs
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, laboratory testing, and equipment validation
  • Capacity to support build and test activities with minimal oversight
