Responsibilities
- Create detailed designs and technical deliverables for secondary electrical systems used in transmission and distribution networks
- Develop protection and control system architectures, including relay configurations, protection logic, and interlocking mechanisms for substations
- Generate single line diagrams, protection logic schematics, metering plans, and cable termination layouts
- Produce electrical interconnection schematics, termination drawings, cable schedules, and auxiliary documentation for secondary system deployment
- Perform relay coordination analyses covering overcurrent, earth fault, motor protection, and distance protection, including relay setting derivation and fault simulations
- Conduct power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, transient stability, motor starting, and arc flash assessments
- Design control and relay panel layouts with general arrangement drawings, functional block diagrams, and associated bills of materials
- Engineer SCADA communication frameworks and integrate protection systems to ensure reliable control and field device interoperability
- Review and validate design documentation to confirm adherence to IEC, IEEE, and utility-specific standards
- Provide technical support during commissioning and testing phases, including Factory Acceptance Testing and field integration of secondary systems
- Develop algorithms to enhance system performance, including fault detection, relay coordination logic, and stability improvements
- Coordinate across disciplines to align secondary system designs with primary electrical infrastructure
- Produce external connection tables, cable schedules, and supplementary design documents in line with project specifications
