Resolver is hiring a Principal Engineer (AI)

Responsibilities

  • Establish a long-term vision for AI and related technologies, aligning technical strategy with business outcomes.
  • Shape and lead the technical roadmap for the platform with emphasis on AI/ML technologies such as large language models, generative AI, agentic systems, MCP systems, and machine learning infrastructure, while supporting non-AI efforts.
  • Ensure technical strategies support business goals and enable the platform to adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Articulate and champion the technical vision to both technical teams and business stakeholders, connecting strategic planning with execution.
  • Design and integrate AI and non-AI systems to ensure scalability, security, and adherence to architectural best practices.
  • Provide expert guidance on system architecture across AI and non-AI domains, focusing on coherence, performance, and security.
  • Evaluate AI solution designs, data approaches, and model deployments for reliability, fairness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Work with senior technical leaders to establish and uphold architectural standards, patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Lead key architectural projects, particularly those involving AI integration with existing platforms and systems.
  • Serve as the primary expert for resolving the most complex technical challenges in AI and engineering.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses and root cause assessments for critical issues in systems and models.
  • Develop and deploy innovative, resilient solutions to complex technical problems across AI and non-AI areas.
  • Act as the escalation point for engineering teams facing high-severity technical obstacles.
  • Develop technical talent through mentorship, advocate for ethical AI use, and cultivate a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Coach and inspire senior engineers, data scientists, and technical leads to enhance team capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and responsible AI adoption across engineering.
  • Demonstrate leadership through technical excellence, ethical AI practices, and active support for professional growth.

Compensation

$180,000 to $210,000

What you’ll be doing: Technical Vision and Strategy (30%)

  • Measure success by clear adoption of technical vision, alignment with business outcomes, and successful integration of innovative AI and non-AI technologies.
  • Define the long-term direction for AI and create strategies that drive business value.
  • Lead the platform’s technical vision and long-term roadmap with focus on AI/ML systems.
  • Ensure technical goals support current and future business needs.
  • Communicate technical strategy effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Architectural Oversight (30%)

  • Measure success by strong architectural governance, improved system performance, and compliance with standards.
  • Ensure AI and non-AI systems are built for scalability, security, and architectural consistency.
  • Guide system design to ensure coherence, scalability, and performance.
  • Review AI designs, data strategies, and model implementations for robustness and fairness.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to define and enforce architectural best practices.
  • Lead major initiatives involving AI integration with existing platforms.

Complex Problem Solving (30%)

  • Measure success by resolving critical issues, improving system reliability, and delivering high-impact solutions.
  • Serve as the top technical expert for solving the most difficult engineering and AI challenges.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for critical system and model failures.
  • Design and implement resilient solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Act as the final escalation point for engineering teams facing tough technical obstacles.

Mentorship and Leadership (10%)

  • Measure success by stronger team capabilities, improved AI maturity, and a culture of innovation.
  • Develop technical talent through mentorship and promote responsible AI practices.
  • Coach senior engineers, data scientists, and technical leaders to build capability.
  • Encourage continuous learning and innovation across engineering teams.
  • Lead by example in technical excellence, thought leadership, and ethical AI use.
