Lead the evolution of intelligent mining systems by defining and driving the technical vision for next-generation onboard platforms. This role is central to shaping the architecture of integrated computing solutions that combine AI, sensor fusion, machine vision, motion tracking, and high-speed data communication within ruggedized, real-time environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the end-to-end system architecture for unified onboard platforms, ensuring alignment with long-term technology strategy
- Design scalable, modular frameworks that support configurable hardware and software components across distributed embedded systems
- Lead technical evaluations of chipsets, operating systems, communication protocols, and enabling technologies to inform strategic decisions
- Develop proof-of-concept implementations to validate emerging technologies in mining-specific use cases
- Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and software teams to ensure architectural consistency and performance across subsystems
- Mentor technical leads and engineers, fostering strong design practices and architectural discipline
- Establish and enforce architectural standards, governance processes, and design patterns across the development lifecycle
- Identify risks related to real-time performance, security, and environmental resilience, and develop mitigation strategies
- Work with project and engineering leadership to estimate effort, define work breakdown structures, and support innovation initiatives
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and coordinate with security teams across the product portfolio
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field, and bring over a decade of experience in system or firmware architecture for distributed embedded systems. Expertise in real-time operating systems such as Linux and Zephyr RTOS is essential, along with strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, or Java.
Required knowledge includes networking (WLAN, WPAN, V2X), industrial communication protocols (CAN, J1939, RS485), and experience in sensor fusion, machine vision, and navigation systems—especially in GNSS-limited environments. Familiarity with object-oriented and domain-driven design, design patterns, and process control systems is expected.
Experience in natural resource industries such as mining or industrial automation is highly valued. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities, clear communication skills, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
