Lead the design and development of advanced medical devices in a fast-paced, globally integrated environment. As a Principal Designer, you will play a central role in transforming concepts into production-ready systems, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with industry standards. You'll guide projects from initial sketches through to final documentation, using parametric CAD and data management platforms to deliver precise, manufacturable designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design reviews and technical evaluations, analyzing trade-offs and optimizing solutions across complex mechanical systems
- Develop and validate mechanical designs using SolidWorks and related tools, ensuring alignment with functional and regulatory requirements
- Produce detailed drawings with full GD&T documentation, adhering to ASME Y14.5M-2009 and other applicable standards
- Manage design data within Windchill and related systems, maintaining accurate BOMs, schematics, and change orders
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and management teams to resolve technical challenges and advance project timelines
- Review peer designs for compliance and completeness, identifying gaps and recommending improvements
- Generate engineering change orders and support documentation updates, including illustrations and technical animations
- Apply deep knowledge of pneumatics, kinetics, and mechanical systems to solve advanced engineering problems
- Identify opportunities for design optimization and workflow enhancement across the development lifecycle
Qualifications
Candidates should hold an Associate’s degree or higher in mechanical drafting or a related field, with at least eight years of hands-on experience in mechanical design using SolidWorks. Proven ability to take designs from concept to production is essential, along with strong communication skills and experience in cross-functional, technically demanding environments. Familiarity with regulated industries—particularly medical devices—is highly valued. Prior leadership experience, knowledge of molding processes, and a track record of driving innovation are preferred.
Work Environment
This is a fully onsite role requiring presence in the local office five days per week. Some domestic and international travel—up to 10%—may be required. You’ll work within a culture that emphasizes inclusion, performance, and continuous growth, supported by access to training, career development resources, and collaborative global teams.
