About the Role
This role involves designing and implementing a new data platform from scratch, separating analytical and production workloads, establishing a unified metrics layer, and connecting structured records with drone-captured media to support future product expansion.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a new multi-layer data warehouse architecture that isolates analytical processing from production OLTP systems, starting from raw ingestion through refined and serving layers.
- Develop a governed, self-service data access system for internal teams—including Product, Customer Success, Operations, and Leadership—as a priority before enabling customer-facing analytics.
- Create a unified semantic and metrics layer to ensure consistent definitions across all reporting surfaces, preventing discrepancies in key business metrics like 'scan accuracy by site.'
- Ensure data platform reliability with strict SLAs: 99%+ uptime, guaranteed data freshness, full traceability, zero data loss, and 99.5%+ pipeline success rates.
- Implement secure, scalable tenant isolation with per-tenant cost tracking, schema controls, and row-level role-based access to support growth to 300+ tenants.
- Own data quality at the integration boundary by defining data contracts, validating schemas, and ensuring correct ingestion of WMS data across versions.
- Establish a data catalog and lineage system using either Azure Purview or open-source DataHub to enable discovery, ownership transparency, and end-to-end metric traceability.
- Validate the end-to-end data architecture on the company's drone product, then generalize the design so future products can extend it without duplication.
- Bridge product and machine learning initiatives by linking structured data with unstructured drone imagery and video, enabling traceable feature stores and annotation pipelines.
About Us
We are building transformative technology to modernize supply chain operations through intelligent automation. Our platform leverages autonomous drones and real-time data capture to digitize warehouse workflows, replacing error-prone manual processes. This enables safer, more efficient facilities and redefines delivery performance. We operate at the forefront of robotics innovation and are shaping the future of warehouse intelligence—one site at a time.
About the Team
You will be part of the founding Data Platform team, tasked with creating a unified data infrastructure. Currently, analytical and production workloads share a single database, and metrics are defined inconsistently across teams. Your role will establish the central data warehouse, transformation logic, and semantic model used by all products and dashboards, in close collaboration with engineering, product, and security.
About the Role
This role begins with a clean slate. As Principal Data Engineer, you will design and build the company’s core data platform from scratch—decoupling analytics from production, creating a consistent metrics layer, and connecting structured records with drone-captured media. You will validate the architecture on the drone product and evolve it into a scalable foundation for future offerings, operating as a high-impact individual contributor with influence across technical and business domains.
