Role Overview
As a Principal Applications Engineer, you will lead technical sales initiatives for distributed generation systems in a fully remote capacity. Your expertise will bridge engineering and customer needs, shaping solutions that align with project goals and technical feasibility. You will play a central role in advancing clean energy adoption by translating complex requirements into actionable designs and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical aspects of sales engagements for distributed energy projects
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to define system requirements and integration needs
- Deliver technical presentations and detailed analyses to support customer decision-making
- Develop conceptual designs for electrical, mechanical, and civil interfaces between energy systems and customer sites
- Define scope of work using internal and external resources during pre-sales phases
- Address technical objections and guide customers toward project approval
- Collaborate with sales teams on bid and proposal development
- Provide feedback to engineering and product teams based on market and customer insights
- Prepare contract inputs and technical documentation specific to each project
- Travel as required to support sales and customer engagements
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required. Candidates must have 10–15 years of experience in customer-facing technical roles within the power systems or energy sector, with a focus on designing and specifying distributed generation systems. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in power generation technologies—such as fuel cells, solar, wind, battery storage, gas turbines, or reciprocating engines—is essential. Familiarity with industry standards including NEC, IEEE, IBC, and local regulations is expected. Strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills are critical to success in this role.
A Professional Engineering license is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This is a fully remote position with no geographic restrictions. You will collaborate with teams and customers across regions, supporting project development from initial concept through technical validation.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $137,600 to $206,400. In addition to base pay, compensation includes equity and eligibility for a sales incentive bonus plan.
