Manage the critical pre-contract phase of commercial interior fit-outs, taking ownership from initial client engagement through to project handover. Your primary responsibility will be guiding estimating and proposal development, ensuring every aspect of scope, cost, and schedule is clearly defined and aligned with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end estimating processes, from interpreting drawings and specifications to finalizing cost submissions
- Review design documents to identify constructability concerns, suggest value improvements, and define accurate work scopes
- Collaborate with design and delivery teams during planning to align project goals and constraints
- Coordinate subcontractor bidding to ensure fair, consistent comparisons and reliable pricing
- Develop and refine project budgets progressively, tailoring presentations to client needs
- Oversee project schedules to support timely estimating and procurement activities
- Identify opportunities for improved margins and communicate insights to internal stakeholders
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, prioritizing quality and client focus
- Support junior team members through mentorship and guidance on larger initiatives
Qualifications
You bring proven experience in preconstruction within commercial interiors or a closely related field. You understand the full lifecycle from client acquisition to site start and can interpret technical documents to assess labor, materials, and timelines. Based in or near London, you thrive in collaborative environments and are comfortable working across teams to deliver accurate, profitable proposals.
