California ISO is hiring a Power Systems Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 (Hybrid or Remote)

As a Power Systems Engineering Intern, you'll play an active role in advancing the performance and reliability of the electrical grid during a 10–12 week paid program in summer 2026. Working within a hybrid or remote environment, you'll collaborate on live initiatives that support the operation and modernization of critical energy infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with implementation teams to help deliver major software and systems upgrades, including the next-generation Energy Management System (EMS).
  • Conduct outage analysis using engineering models and contribute to testing and validation of applications.
  • Develop automation tools and scripts to streamline workflows and enhance the accuracy of system studies.
  • Support modeling improvements and assess how changes affect energy market behavior.
  • Prepare technical summaries and documentation for review by engineers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.

Learning & Development

This role offers direct exposure to advanced power system technologies and real-world grid operations. You’ll gain insight into how energy markets function, explore emerging trends like renewable integration and microgrids, and attend educational sessions with leadership.
