Responsibilities
- Engages directly in patient treatment and communicates relevant health updates to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Adheres to the treatment plan designed by the Physical Therapist while operating within state-defined practice standards.
- Demonstrates professional judgment, care, and technical skill in all assigned tasks.
- Effectively guides patients through therapeutic exercises and recovery processes.
- Recognizes individual patient needs and responds with empathy and support.
- Recommends adjustments to treatment plans to improve patient progress, safety, and comfort.
- Enters accurate and timely documentation into the electronic medical record system.
- Records daily treatment notes under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, who co-signs the entries.
- Responds to patient inquiries and fulfills requests with clear and helpful information.
- Assists in patient treatment using modalities like heat or ice, supports use of exercise equipment, monitors mobility, and performs prescribed therapeutic activities.
- Teaches patients through demonstration how to properly use therapy equipment and follow exercise programs.
- Upholds patient trust by safeguarding confidential health information.
- Ensures a safe and hygienic environment by following established safety and operational protocols.
- Strengthens departmental reputation by taking initiative, adapting to new tasks, supporting team goals, and seeking ways to improve outcomes.
- Escalates unresolved concerns or complications to the supervising Physical Therapist.
