Role Overview
Support a national network of veterinary practices as a temporary, fully remote Payroll Specialist. Over a 3-month period, you'll manage critical payroll functions for an organization with over 4,000 employees across 220 locations and 125 federal tax IDs. This role demands precision, regulatory knowledge, and strong collaboration with internal departments and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify payroll across a complex, multi-state organization using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Operations teams to align payroll activities with broader business functions.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly, aiming for resolution within two business days.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, including timely filings and setup of new tax jurisdictions.
- Manage relationships with third-party payroll and tax service providers, ensuring system reliability and data integrity.
- Support system improvements and process optimization initiatives to enhance payroll efficiency and controls.
- Anticipate operational challenges and recommend proactive solutions to maintain payroll continuity.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field, along with at least five years of progressive payroll experience. Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now is essential, as is a solid understanding of multi-state payroll regulations and U.S. employment tax compliance. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities are required to manage competing priorities effectively.
Preference will be given to candidates with a passion for animal care, reflecting the organization’s mission.
