You will take ownership of maintaining and optimising Oracle database environments within a high-performing support team. Your responsibilities include monitoring system performance, managing memory allocation, tuning physical I/O operations, and overseeing lock management to ensure smooth and efficient database functionality. You'll work closely with the Operations Manager and senior database administrators to align with operational goals and maintain system stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technical leads and operations staff to support critical database infrastructure
- Monitor and optimise memory and storage utilisation across database platforms
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to physical input/output operations
- Track and manage database lock activity to prevent system delays
- Ensure efficient use of computing resources across Oracle, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL environments
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven experience administering Oracle databases in enterprise settings
- Hands-on background with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools
- Experience supporting virtualised environments
- Ability to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance
- Must have lived in the UK continuously for the past five years
- Successful completion of pre-employment checks covering identity, nationality, employment history, and criminal record status
