About the Role
The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed title examinations, preparing title opinions, and supporting transactional work related to oil and gas properties in Oklahoma. This role requires strong knowledge of mineral rights, leasehold interests, and energy law.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze oil and gas leases and related documents
- Conduct thorough title examinations on mineral and royalty interests
- Prepare written title opinions for acquisitions and divestitures
- Verify ownership of mineral rights through public records
- Identify and resolve title defects or discrepancies
- Support due diligence efforts in asset transactions
- Collaborate with landmen and geologists on project evaluations
- Interpret legal descriptions and survey data
- Draft and review assignments, deeds, and conveyances
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Maintain accurate records of title work and opinions
- Communicate findings to project managers and stakeholders
- Assist in curative efforts for title issues
- Stay current with changes in oil and gas law
- Provide guidance on title standards in the energy industry
- Work closely with clients on transaction timelines
- Evaluate plats and wellbore locations for title accuracy
- Review division orders and revenue interests
- Assist in the preparation of title summaries
- Manage multiple title projects simultaneously
- Ensure consistency with company title policies
- Participate in internal audits of title work
- Support corporate legal initiatives as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of client and project data
