Role Summary

This field-based position serves as a scientific bridge between the organization and the medical community across Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, and Indiana. The successful candidate will engage with hematologists, oncologists, and key opinion leaders to exchange current, balanced scientific information related to rare blood disorders. The role emphasizes non-promotional, evidence-based dialogue and supports the advancement of clinical understanding within the hematology space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers, academic institutions, and medical societies
  • Deliver accurate, scientifically rigorous information on disease states, treatment approaches, and investigational compounds
  • Act as a primary field contact for medical affairs, facilitating communication between external experts and internal teams
  • Collect and share insights on clinical practices, emerging research, and competitive developments
  • Support clinical trial initiatives through site identification, initiation, and enrollment assistance
  • Contribute to advisory boards and expert panels at local, regional, and national levels
  • Deliver training sessions on clinical data, preclinical research, and outcomes to both internal and external audiences
  • Attend and represent the organization at medical conferences, summarizing key scientific developments
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise in hematology, rare diseases, and relevant clinical studies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align scientific strategy with medical needs

Work Requirements

This is a remote position requiring residency within the Mid-West territory (IL, IA, MO, IN). The role involves extensive field work with approximately 60% of time spent traveling to meet with healthcare professionals and attend events. Candidates must be prepared for regular regional travel by car or air.

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree (e.g., PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) preferred
  • Proven experience in a field medical role, ideally within hematology or rare diseases
  • Strong understanding of clinical research, regulatory compliance, and medical ethics
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex data clearly and objectively
  • Residency within the designated territory is required
  • Commitment to scientific integrity and patient-centered care
