About the Role
This role involves developing and maintaining mechanical designs and documentation for complex systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with engineering standards through close collaboration with engineering staff.
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using computer-aided design software
- Support engineering teams in the development of new product designs
- Revise and update existing design documentation based on engineering feedback
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and specifications
- Collaborate with engineers to interpret schematics and technical requirements
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and revisions
- Assist in the creation of bills of materials for manufacturing
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input
- Translate conceptual designs into executable technical drawings
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve design issues
- Generate assembly and fabrication drawings for production
- Support prototyping efforts with accurate design models
- Perform geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as required
- Ensure consistency between design documentation and engineering intent
- Use version control practices for design files
- Assist in validating designs through testing and analysis support
- Follow configuration management procedures for design data
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes
- Maintain awareness of design for manufacturability principles
- Support quality audits with accurate documentation
- Interface with manufacturing teams to clarify design details
- Apply knowledge of materials and mechanical systems in design work
