About the Role
The role involves conducting hands-on testing of software systems to identify defects and verify performance against specifications. The engineer will work within a structured development lifecycle, contributing to quality outcomes through detailed test planning and execution.
Responsibilities
- Design and document test scenarios and test cases based on system requirements
- Execute manual test procedures across multiple software environments
- Identify, record, and track software defects using issue management tools
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve identified issues
- Validate bug fixes and ensure resolution meets acceptance criteria
- Participate in requirement reviews to assess testability and completeness
- Maintain up-to-date test documentation and results
- Support regression testing efforts during system updates
- Ensure compliance with defined software quality standards
- Communicate testing progress and outcomes to project stakeholders
- Work within Agile or iterative development cycles as required
- Perform integration testing between system components
- Verify user interface consistency and functionality
- Conduct end-to-end testing of application workflows
- Assist in the preparation of test environments and data
- Review system specifications for alignment with business needs
- Report on test coverage and defect metrics
- Support user acceptance testing activities
- Adhere to established change management and release procedures
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes
Nice to Have
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB)
- Experience with government or defense-related IT projects
- Familiarity with accessibility testing standards
- Knowledge of performance testing concepts
- Experience using JIRA or similar project tracking tools
