Responsibilities
- Support financial leaders in defining strategic direction and goals for the accounting function
- Collaborate with finance leadership to enhance reporting frameworks and analytical capabilities
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and partner with corporate and business teams to develop, test, and deploy solutions
- Lead process improvement initiatives to reduce inefficiencies and lower operational costs in accounting workflows
- Create and deliver training programs to build team capabilities in financial accounting
- Establish, execute, and uphold consistent accounting standards across departments
- Coordinate with finance teams across business units, internal audit, corporate departments, external auditors, offshore teams, and controller group members
- Supervise and analyze complex accounting matters including acquisitions, leases, restructurings, impairments, and other executive requests
- Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of general ledger and sub-ledger processing, providing technical guidance to shared services and business unit staff
- Deliver monthly and quarterly general ledger reporting, including responses to internal and external audit inquiries for designated areas
- Track and manage key general ledger performance indicators, including reconciliation review timelines and completion
- Ensure compliance with SOX requirements for assigned areas on a quarterly basis
- Recruit, mentor, and grow the financial accounting team, setting clear objectives and performance metrics
- Partner with financial leadership to validate the effectiveness and accuracy of internal control systems
- Assess individual and team performance regularly and deliver constructive feedback
- Oversee and coordinate the output of offshore accounting resources to ensure quality and consistency
- Work with senior management to shift analytical tasks from field locations to centralized shared services
- Promote continuous improvement by evaluating existing processes and identifying efficiency gains
- Encourage team adaptability and lead change management efforts during organizational transitions
- Assist in onboarding and integrating new business operations into the accounting center
- Play an active role in incorporating acquired businesses into the centralized accounting structure
- Take on additional duties as required or directed by executive leadership
