Egis Group is hiring a Lighting and Control System Engineer (Roads O&M)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of aesthetic and structural lighting installations on bridges, interchanges, landmarks, and feature sites.
  • Manage DMX512 and RDM-enabled lighting devices, including programming scenes, color transitions, and show timelines, while ensuring correct addressing, universe configuration, and data reliability.
  • Troubleshoot issues in data transmission lines, drivers, and nodes; maintain backups of controllers, scene libraries, and updated control system documentation.
  • Assist in preparing for the future deployment of LoRaWAN-based smart lighting controls, covering gateways, nodes, network servers, and central management platforms, though not yet active on the contract.
  • Set up DALI and DALI-2 drivers, configure dimming curves, time-based schedules using calendar and astronomical clocks, and manage fault and energy monitoring as systems are deployed.
  • Support remote monitoring of feeder pillars, switching operations, and integration of metering systems, including device setup, provisioning, and firmware upgrades.
  • Generate performance, energy usage, and fault reports from central management system data to support KPI and SLA tracking once systems are live.
  • Maintain lighting in underpasses and tunnels according to CIE 88 and BS 5489 standards, covering all designated zones: threshold, transition, interior, and exit.
  • Manage day and night dimming stages, luminance controls, photometric (L20) sensors, and traffic-responsive lighting logic.
  • Ensure functionality of emergency and standby lighting, UPS-backed circuits, and integration with tunnel SCADA, ventilation, and incident response systems where applicable.
  • Validate lighting performance through periodic checks of luminance levels, uniformity, and flicker absence.
  • Lead troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair activities across street, decorative, and tunnel lighting assets on a 29-route expressway network.
  • Supervise both subcontracted and internal teams, review work orders in asset management software, and ensure adherence to quality benchmarks and service level agreements.
  • Produce technical documentation, method statements, risk assessments, and as-built records; support system trials, retrofits, and conversion from HPS to LED lighting.
  • Consistently follow electrical safety protocols, permit-to-work procedures, and Ashghal HSE regulations.
