About the Role
This position involves evaluating licensing applications, performing site visits, and ensuring facilities comply with state standards for childcare and adult care services. The specialist will communicate with providers in both English and Spanish, document findings, and support regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review and process licensing applications for childcare and adult care facilities
- Conduct on-site inspections to verify compliance with state regulations
- Communicate with facility staff and applicants in both English and Spanish
- Document inspection results and follow-up actions
- Maintain accurate records in licensing databases
- Respond to inquiries from providers, families, and community members
- Assess provider compliance with health, safety, and operational standards
- Support corrective action plans for facilities not meeting requirements
- Collaborate with regional and state teams on compliance initiatives
- Participate in training related to licensing policies and procedures
- Prepare reports on licensing activities and outcomes
- Ensure timely processing of licensing renewals and modifications
- Interpret state rules and regulations for providers and stakeholders
- Assist in emergency preparedness and response efforts for licensed facilities
- Conduct interviews with staff and caregivers during site visits
- Verify staff qualifications and training documentation
- Monitor changes in facility operations and ownership
- Support investigations related to licensing violations
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive records
- Use technology tools for data entry, communication, and reporting
- Promote equity and accessibility in licensing services
- Engage with diverse communities to improve understanding of licensing requirements
- Stay current with changes in state laws and agency policies
- Provide guidance to new or prospective licensees
- Ensure consistency in application of licensing standards
