Responsibilities
- Apply standardized project management practices to plan and oversee matter deliverables using project documentation, team meetings, and regular updates to stakeholders.
- Establish matter scope and create budgets, tracking legal spend, alternative fee arrangements, and profitability in coordination with financial and practice support teams.
- Assist in determining matter staffing and promote clear communication of roles, responsibilities, and workflows within the team.
- Ensure time entries are accurate, complete, and compliant with client billing rules, while leveraging time data for analytics and reporting.
- Act as a central point of contact to confirm the team meets client expectations on quality, responsiveness, and deadlines.
- Create and manage project plans, monitor progress, and proactively flag risks or delays.
- Lead post-matter evaluations, document lessons learned, and share insights to enhance future matter execution.
- Collect and analyze client feedback to guide ongoing service improvements.
- Serve as an internal advisor for process improvement by evaluating workflows, capturing best practices, and recommending innovative technology use.
- Provide expert guidance on project scoping, budgeting, fee structures, and progress reporting.
- Design and maintain budget templates, project plans, and procedural guides for active and prospective matters, including business development materials.
- Partner with practice and financial teams to build and refine project management resources.
- Work closely with practice development lawyers to align on matter stages and coordinate project and knowledge management support.
- Support the implementation and effective use of legal technology tools to improve matter delivery and reporting capabilities.
- Identify training needs in project management and lead initiatives such as resource development, workshops, and individual coaching for legal staff.
- Assist in change management related to new processes, systems, and work practices across the firm.
