Octave is hiring a Lead Full Stack Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Tackle obstacles proactively with a solutions-oriented approach, even when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous.
  • Amplify team effectiveness through mentorship, collaborative coding, and constructive feedback that builds capability and confidence.
  • Take initiative while maintaining sound judgment, and flag potential issues early to prevent downstream problems.
  • Set and uphold high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation, guiding the team without enforcing rigidity.
  • Develop and deliver end-to-end features that align with defined acceptance criteria and design specifications.
  • Work closely with Product, UX, QA, and engineering peers in an Agile/Scrum framework to clarify needs and structure work into manageable increments.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of backend services and frontend components, from design through deployment and ongoing maintenance.
  • Apply test-driven, test-first, or behavior-driven development methods pragmatically to ensure code reliability and adaptability.
  • Produce code that is clean, secure, and well-organized, adhering to current engineering standards and team conventions.
  • Deliver contributions across the entire technology stack, including APIs, data layers, services, and user interfaces, with occasional work on hybrid platforms.
  • Design systems for optimal performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency within cloud infrastructure.
  • Diagnose, resolve, and rework existing code and services to enhance stability, speed, and long-term maintainability.
  • Assess and integrate new tools, libraries, and architectural patterns that boost development efficiency and software quality.
  • Deliver clear and accurate progress updates on tasks, including changes in scope, reasoning, and areas affected.
  • Collaborate successfully with colleagues and stakeholders across different time zones in a distributed work environment.
  • Build, update, and support modern web applications using Angular or comparable frameworks, along with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, ensuring seamless integration with backend systems.
  • Enhance and refine CI/CD pipelines, code review processes, and engineering workflows to enable rapid and reliable software delivery.
