As the Lead Embedded Hardware Engineer, you will take full ownership of electrical system design for IoT and connected products, guiding projects from initial concept through to mass production. You'll collaborate directly with software, hardware, and product design teams to create robust, production-ready solutions that solve real-world challenges.
What You'll Do
- Lead the end-to-end development of custom PCBAs, including schematic capture, layout oversight, and design for manufacturability
- Bring up and debug embedded hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic tools
- Validate electrical performance across power systems, digital interfaces, and wireless modules
- Architect embedded subsystems using microcontrollers such as ARM Cortex or ESP32 platforms
- Work directly with contract manufacturers to ensure smooth transition from prototype to volume production
- Ensure designs meet reliability, power efficiency, and regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in embedded hardware design
- Proficiency with tools like Altium Designer and electrical test equipment
- Experience with wireless technologies including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cellular
- Strong understanding of low-power design principles and battery-powered systems
- Familiarity with digital communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART
- Residency in Canada with legal authorization to work permanently (excluding Québec)
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary ranges from CAD $93,000 to $98,000 annually, with potential for up to 15% variable compensation based on performance. Additional benefits include extended health, dental, and vision coverage; a 4% employer RRSP contribution; monthly stipends for internet and mobile; annual allowances for home office and continuing education; and company-provided equipment including a MacBook Pro.
